Just For You Card

Today's card was designed to brighten up my mood since its been snowing outside for days, we couldn't get out of the house and I was starting to suffer from Cabin Fever!!!

I started out with an A6 card in Tempting Turquoise. As I didn't have the Stampin Up Basket Weave Embossing Folder I decided to make my own. I cut 1/2" strips of whisper white card and weaved them together. When I'd finished I trimmed the piece down to 3 5/8" x 5". I used my Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set together with the Berry Burst, Pool Part, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink pads to stamp the flowers and cut them out with the matching framelits, Bouquet Bunch. I cut the stems for the flowers with Old Olive card stock. For the sentiment I used the Watercolor Wings Stamp Set and cut that out with the smallest oval of my stitched shaped framelits.

My First Mini Album! Petal Garden

Eeeeeek!! I'm so proud of myself to have made my FIRST EVER  mini album. That's all thanks to Steph from EffiAnn Cards for the tutorial on her YouTube channel and having taken the time to post all the sizes on her blog. I'll post a link to her YouTube tutorial and my YouTube video at the bottom.

I've always wanted to try and make a Mini Album from scratch but never seemed to have the time until now.

My Friends turns the big 50 (which is a naughty word to her at the moment ha ha) in April and her daughter bought her a trip around America as a gift. I know she's going to be taking lots of photos for her memories so that's when I decided that now would be the best time to get my finger out and try to make her an Album. I did make a couple of mistakes along the way and if you watch my video I point them out but at least I know what I did wrong and won't make the same mistakes next time.

Steph's video instructions along with her blog post were are fantastic! She explains the steps really well. I took my time and cut all the pieces beforehand then just did a wee bit at a time, pausing the video as I went along. Steph if your reading this your views will certainly have gone up now ha ha.
Anyway I hope you enjoy both mine and Steph's video and it inspires you to maybe have a go at it yourself.

Have a lovely Sunday Folks

Beautiful Bouquet Thanks A Bunch Card

I originally made this card for a challenge but missed the deadline for posting it (note to self, you bought a diary for a reason, use it hahaha). Anyway I wanted to try a colour I hadn't used before so decided on the Daffodil Delight. I pulled out the ink pad and then sat thinking about a matching colour. After trying a few a I thought the basic grey and black went well. I hope you agree.

Materials Used
A5 Daffodil Delight Cardstock folded in half to make an A6 card.
Basic Black Cardstock 4" x 5 3/4"
Whisper White Cardstock 1/8" smaller than the black cardstock. I stamped the flowers from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set using Basic Black, Basic Grey and Daffodil Delight ink pads.
I then stamped the sentiment with the black from the same stamp set and backed this with circle from the stitched shaped framelits. Then I punched out a black circle using the starburst punch which finished the trio off.

Two Butterflies Sitting On A Wall

This weeks challenge over on the Stampin For All Facebook Page was a colour challenge.
The colours were Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim and Fresh Fig.
Unfortunately I didn't have the Dapper Denim so had to make do with with the other two.
Since Tranquil Tide and Fresh Fig are quite dark colours it took me a while to come up with a design that I thought was bright enough. I tried a few layouts with different stamp sets and finally went with the butterflies and Sentiment from the Floral Phrases.

Materials Used
A5 piece whisper white cardstock folded in half to make an A6 card
Piece of whisper white 2 3/4" x 5 3/4" embossed with brick wall embossing folder
2 strips of tranquil tide 1/4" x 5 3/4"
2 strips fresh fig 1/8" x 5 3/4"
whisper white sentiment 2" x 1" with a fresh fig layer measuring 1/8" bigger.

Male 70th Birthday Card

It was my uncles 70th birthday yesterday and I decided to make him a card. I don't often make male cards as I always find them a bit difficult. Anyway I was happy how this one turned out and I hope you like it.

Materials Used

6"x6" white card base
Night of Navy cardstock 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" which I embossed with the Brick Wall folder.
I stamped the "70", "th" and "happy" using my Number Of Years Stamp Set and cut out  the 70 with the matching number framelits. For the "uncle" I used the Brushwork Alphabet Stamp Set. I then backed the it with silver foil card to make it stand out a bit more. I used my largest circle from the stitched shaped framelits to showcase the "70" and voila it was done!
