My First Mini Album! Petal Garden

Eeeeeek!! I'm so proud of myself to have made my FIRST EVER  mini album. That's all thanks to Steph from EffiAnn Cards for the tutorial on her YouTube channel and having taken the time to post all the sizes on her blog. I'll post a link to her YouTube tutorial and my YouTube video at the bottom.

I've always wanted to try and make a Mini Album from scratch but never seemed to have the time until now.

My Friends turns the big 50 (which is a naughty word to her at the moment ha ha) in April and her daughter bought her a trip around America as a gift. I know she's going to be taking lots of photos for her memories so that's when I decided that now would be the best time to get my finger out and try to make her an Album. I did make a couple of mistakes along the way and if you watch my video I point them out but at least I know what I did wrong and won't make the same mistakes next time.

Steph's video instructions along with her blog post were are fantastic! She explains the steps really well. I took my time and cut all the pieces beforehand then just did a wee bit at a time, pausing the video as I went along. Steph if your reading this your views will certainly have gone up now ha ha.
Anyway I hope you enjoy both mine and Steph's video and it inspires you to maybe have a go at it yourself.

Have a lovely Sunday Folks

Beautiful Bouquet Thanks A Bunch Card

I originally made this card for a challenge but missed the deadline for posting it (note to self, you bought a diary for a reason, use it hahaha). Anyway I wanted to try a colour I hadn't used before so decided on the Daffodil Delight. I pulled out the ink pad and then sat thinking about a matching colour. After trying a few a I thought the basic grey and black went well. I hope you agree.

Materials Used
A5 Daffodil Delight Cardstock folded in half to make an A6 card.
Basic Black Cardstock 4" x 5 3/4"
Whisper White Cardstock 1/8" smaller than the black cardstock. I stamped the flowers from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set using Basic Black, Basic Grey and Daffodil Delight ink pads.
I then stamped the sentiment with the black from the same stamp set and backed this with circle from the stitched shaped framelits. Then I punched out a black circle using the starburst punch which finished the trio off.

Two Butterflies Sitting On A Wall

This weeks challenge over on the Stampin For All Facebook Page was a colour challenge.
The colours were Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim and Fresh Fig.
Unfortunately I didn't have the Dapper Denim so had to make do with with the other two.
Since Tranquil Tide and Fresh Fig are quite dark colours it took me a while to come up with a design that I thought was bright enough. I tried a few layouts with different stamp sets and finally went with the butterflies and Sentiment from the Floral Phrases.

Materials Used
A5 piece whisper white cardstock folded in half to make an A6 card
Piece of whisper white 2 3/4" x 5 3/4" embossed with brick wall embossing folder
2 strips of tranquil tide 1/4" x 5 3/4"
2 strips fresh fig 1/8" x 5 3/4"
whisper white sentiment 2" x 1" with a fresh fig layer measuring 1/8" bigger.

Male 70th Birthday Card

It was my uncles 70th birthday yesterday and I decided to make him a card. I don't often make male cards as I always find them a bit difficult. Anyway I was happy how this one turned out and I hope you like it.

Materials Used

6"x6" white card base
Night of Navy cardstock 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" which I embossed with the Brick Wall folder.
I stamped the "70", "th" and "happy" using my Number Of Years Stamp Set and cut out  the 70 with the matching number framelits. For the "uncle" I used the Brushwork Alphabet Stamp Set. I then backed the it with silver foil card to make it stand out a bit more. I used my largest circle from the stitched shaped framelits to showcase the "70" and voila it was done!

Wedding/Anniversary Card

This was a card I did last week for a sketch challenge on the Facebook page "Stampin' for all". The sketch was a layout theme (shown below) which I find easier to do for some reason rather than a colour challenge.

Measurements
Smokey Slate Card Base 10"x7", scored at 5"
Fresh Florals DSP mat in Powder Pink 6 7/8" x 4 7/8"

The 3 mats/layers in the center are made up as follows:
Bottom
Smokey Slate mat 5 1/4"x 2 1/4"
Whisper White layer 5 1/8" x 2 1/8" embossed using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder
Middle
Smokey Slate mat 3 1/8" x 4 1/8"
Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink layer 3" x 4"
Top
For this layer I used the square Stitched Shaped Framelits in the 2nd and 3rd sizes with a whisper white layer in between measuring 1 7/8" x 1 7/8".
The sentiment comes from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set and I've stamped it with Basic Grey Ink.
The Smokey Slate band across the card measured 5" x 3/4"
I then added an Itty Bitty Bow in Powder Pink as the finishing touch.

Sweet and Simple Valentines Card

Last week I decided that I'd take part in a Facebook blog hop organised by my team leader\upline Amanda Charlesworth.
Since we're now in February 'the love month' the theme was obviously going to be 'Valentine's'.

I don't usually go for the simple quick cards but really enjoyed making this one and think it looks really pretty .

At first I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do as i only had two stamp sets and a heart thinlit die that fitted the 'love' theme. I sat with them all spread out on my desk with my coffee in hand and pondered for at least an hour before the above design came to me!

I hope you like my design and I have listed the materials I've used below.

Blooming Hearts Thinlits Die
Whisper White Card Stock
Real Red Card Stock
Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set

Thank you for stopping by and Happy crafting!

Mother’s Day Box Card

I came across a YouTube tutorial for a shadow box card and decided I had to have a go .  It was surprising easy once you got all the measurements correct. If you've never made one before then I suggest you have a go!

It measures 6" x6" and the materials I used were:

Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper
First Sight Stamp Set which unfortunately is retired now
Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set
Flower Shop Stamp Set
Stitched Shape Framelits
Solid White Bakers Twine
Pansy Punch

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Shadow Box Wedding Card

I was asked by a colleague at work if I could make a Wedding Card so this is what I came up with.
I previously made a shadow box mother's day card and thought this would be perfect for a wedding card. I think I was right!

It measures 6" x6", small but very cute.

Details of the materials used below .

Materials used:

Bundle of love Designer Series Paper
Very Vanilla Card stock
Gold Foil Card stock
Blooming Hearts Thinlits
Stitched Shaped Framelits
Floral Phrases Stamp Set for the 'wedding wishes' sentiment
Teeny Tiny Sentiments 'for the newlyweds' sentiment
Festive Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which I think is retired now but any would look fine
Gold 1\8th" ribbon

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!
